The Bollywood Red Carpet at Akash and Shloka's Engagement
A dazzling pre-engagement and pre-pre-engagement party later, Akash Amabani, the scion of India’s richest family, finally sealed the deal with Shloka Mehta at a star-studded engagement function on Saturday evening. The Bachchan’s, Shahrukh and Gauri Khan with their hottie of a son in tow, the Kapoor clan and of course the newest couple, Ranbir and Alia - the who’s who of Bollywood made this engagement a red-carpet affair. Dazzling nine yards, chic pant sarees and sharp suits on one hand and OTT bandhgalas and not-so-flattering lehengas on the other, here’s all the fashion you need to see from the evening.
Shloka Mehta & Akash Ambani
The couple of the hour dressed their part, just the right way. Not drab, and not in your face. While Akash kept it simple yet sharp in a clean, maroon bandhgala, Shloka looked every bit a bride-to-be in a floral embroidered light pink lehenga by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.
Sidharth Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra & Aditya Roy Kapoor
That’s a lot of fashion done right in one picture. Breaking away from the typical lehengas and sarees, Parineeti chose a monochrome Shantanu-Nikhil pant-saree paired with an off-shoulder blouse. The naked heels and minimal jewellery let the outfit do all the talking. The boys looked suave in their Manish Malhotra outfits. While Sidharth chose a contemporary spin on a bandhgala wearing a shorter version of it, Aditya went in for a classic white sherwani.
Disha Patani and Tiger Shroff
This couple only gets hotter and hotter with every appearance. Disha showed off her perfectly toned body in a blush pink and silver Falguni & Shane Peacock lehenga with a blouse that made her look absolutely drool worthy! Tiger went in for an interesting all-black Shantanu & Nikhil ensemble – a jacket that was open waist down paired with dress pants and derby’s.
Shweta & Navya Naveli Nanda
The mother-daughter duo was dressed in the Bachchan family favourite, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla couture. But while we loved one look, the other was just meh! Shweta Nanda’s off-white saree was the clear winner here. Frills on the bottom, a frilled panel as a pallu and stone encrusted blouse, this one was just the kind of glam you needed to see at an engagement. Navya’s on the other hand, like we said before… meh!

Ranbir arrived at the engagement sticking to his signature muted style. Dressed in a Raghavendra Rathore ensemble and brown oxfords, he could have easily passed off as royalty.
Dressed in a gold Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla lehenga, we’d say Alia could’ve done way better. Her pink Manish Malhotra saree the previous night was a definite winner. After that, this look was just simply drab!
Aryan & Gauri Khan
Aryan’s first official outing for the shutterbugs was a quite a success! Dressed in a blue Masculine Official suit paired with a white shirt and a slim black tie, he’s definitely scored a hit here. Gauri on the other hand, dressed in a Tarun Tahiliani draped saree, made us completely ignore her till we got down to writing this. How many more years for these bling sarees to go off the fashion scene?

Spotted after the longest time, this appearance just reminded us of how well the man carries himself. A white sherwani, a silk brown pocket square and brown oxfords - super suave!
Shradha mauve Koecsh lehenga was just the perfect pick for the occasion. The flattering volume on the skirt, the embroidery and bling that wasn’t overdone and the light net dupatta, there’s not a thing we can point wrong about this one. Soft waves and statement eyes completed the look. There’s no bone to pick here!
Sara Ali Khan
We’re honestly the most disappointed with this look. There’s so much this pretty face could’ve carried off! This orange Abu-Sandeep lehenga did nothing for Sara. It could’ve well been just about any lehenga from Chandni Chowk. It’s going to take us some time to get this frumpy look!
Mira Rajput & Shahid Kapoor
Soon to-be parents, Mira and Shahid made a fashionable statement as they arrived at Antilla. Wearing a heavily embellished kurta and sharara by Manish Malhotra, Mira carried off her baby bump with ease and so elegantly! There’s absolutely no missing that glow on her face! Shahid on the other hand, kept it casual by pairing his black three-piece suit with a beige T-shirt instead of a crisp shirt and a pair of brown monk straps.
Madhuri Dixit Nene
She did it back then and she continues to do it now! Madhuri stole the show in a floral, lightly embroidered, peach saree by Shehla Khan. Paired with a stunning, dull-finished set by Shri Hari Diagems, she looked more than a million bucks!
If there’s anyone we’d vote to be the enthu cutlet at all weddings, it would K.Jo! He’s always dressed like it’s his own! Wearing a bottle green velvet sherwani by Manish Malhotra, we think he went a tad bit overboard!
