How to Pull Off Summer’s Sunny Eye Makeup Trend
In the makeup world these days, it truly feels like summer. From the runways and red carpets to magazine covers and Instagram hashtags, a sunny-hued eyeshadow has popped up on every celebrity and makeup star’s lids. Image: Instagram/@namratasoni
To Do or Not to Do?
While these images are definitely mood board worthy, they make us wonder whether it really is possible to translate the trend for the real girl in real life. Well, it totally is! We spoke with celebrity makeup artist, Ashima Kapoor to tell you how.
“Every Indian skin tone has yellow undertones. So, whether you’re fair or dusky, yellow is a colour everybody can work with” says Ashima. She suggests using pastel yellows if you’re fair skinned. Think #1 from the Rose Garden palette by Dior.
A Mellow Yellow
“For a soft effect, just apply a wash of the eyeshadow. However, for an impactful evening, use an eyeshadow primer first to make it look more defined. Top it with a winged liner, and you’re definitely going to get heads turning”, she says.
For you dusky beauties, Ashima suggests a bright yellow, like the Inglot AMC 60, to light up your face. If you’re ready to take it up a notch, smear some lip or eye gloss over it for that popular wet look. Image: Refinery29.com
Work The Look
What about the rest of the face? “Play down the lips and let the yellow do its magic! If you want to experiment a tad more, use a yellow blush.” Take it on ladies! Rule the colour of the season! Image:Instagram/@katclrk_
