What comes to your mind when we ask you to picture an Indian politician? A white frumpy kurta, chappals and probably a drab Nehru jacket? Maybe not so much anymore. It’s probably Narendra Modi in his full sleeve power bandhgalas, right? While that is of course because he is the Prime Minister, but its also because he’s let his distinct style add to his image. It all began with the PM’s staple half sleeved kurtas that later came to be known as the ‘Modi Kurta. ’ Soon after he took office, it was the ‘Modi Suit’ instead of the kurta that made news. He usually pairs them with clean-cut sleeveless vests, and always completes the look with a watch and his steel rimmed spectacles. The rare while that you will get to see him suited, he’s definitely getting heads turning! A little conservative, but always on point!

Another stylish Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, Scindia has got this jaunty, dashing, prince vibe working for him. While he’s also seen wearing a white kurta and a bundi while campaigning, he switches his style to branded shirts (brights and prints), cool aviators, leather boots and the occasional bracelet and watch, when not. Having also walked the ramp at Amazon India Fashion Week, he’s what you’d truly call effortlessly stylish.
The former CM of Jammu & Kashmir sure knows his style. He is one of those rare politicians who knows exactly how to dress for what occasion and isn’t afraid to flaunt his wardrobe.
